Rent-to-own software

Rent-to-own car software that keeps every instalment in view

Set up a contract from an approved application, see straight away who has fallen behind, and take a car through to ownership transfer with the paperwork in order. Rent-to-own lives next to your ordinary hires, in the same plan.

USD 149 a month per business · unlimited staff, cars and bookings

A rent-to-own contract one instalment behind, showing what's been paid out of the sale price, what's left and the payment schedule.

The problem

Too many instalments for a spreadsheet

Rent-to-own is a long relationship. Each contract can run to a hundred or more instalments, and a few missed ones are easy to miss.

  • Arrears are noticed weeks late, when they're hardest to recover.
  • Late fees get charged to some customers and forgotten for others.
  • Payout figures are worked out by hand when a customer wants to finish early.
  • Transfer paperwork, inspection and keys are spread across emails and folders.

What it does

From application to ownership transfer

Contracts from applications

Approve a rent-to-own application and set up the contract from it: the customer, a car free for the whole term, the deposit and the plan.

Terms and frequencies

Terms of 52, 78, 104 or 156 weeks, paid weekly, fortnightly or monthly, with a minimum deposit you set.

Arrears you can't miss

A banner on the contract says how far behind it is. Overdue instalments show on the Contracts overview and in Finance.

Late fees and grace periods

Your late fee, grace period and the point a contract counts as at risk, applied the same way to everyone. Waiving one needs permission.

Instalment reminders

Emails before and after an instalment is due, on your schedule. They stop as soon as it's paid.

Early payout and transfer

Pay out early or finish the term, then work through a checklist: final payment, settlement letter, transfer form, inspection, keys and papers.

Signed agreements

The contract prints with your own rent-to-own terms, and the customer signs online or at the counter.

Portfolio report

Every contract, what's been paid and what's still owed, with a CSV export.

Contracts overview

Start the day with what needs chasing

Active contracts, instalments due this week, overdue instalments and transfers in progress, on one screen. Each overdue line shows the customer, the contract and how late it is, so the first calls of the day are obvious.

  • Payment plans list every instalment across every contract
  • Suspend or reinstate a contract (with permission)
  • Each instalment can be paid, reminded, charged a late fee or waived

Good to know before you buy

  • BookandManage keeps the schedule and records what's paid. It doesn't connect to your bank to collect instalments, so collect them the way you do now and record them.
  • Rent-to-own can be regulated where you operate. BookandManage prints the terms you write; it doesn't give legal or credit advice.
  • Hires and rent-to-own share one fleet: a car on a contract shows as Rent to Own and isn't offered for hire.

Questions

Questions we get asked

Is rent-to-own an add-on?

No. Contracts, payment plans, late fees and ownership transfers are part of the one plan, USD 149 a month per business. If you don't offer rent-to-own, it stays out of the way.

Which terms and payment frequencies are supported?

Terms of 52, 78, 104 or 156 weeks (one, one and a half, two or three years), with instalments weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You set the default term, the minimum deposit and which frequencies you allow.

What happens when a customer falls behind?

The contract shows how far behind it is, the instalment shows as overdue, and a late fee can be charged after your grace period. After a set number of missed instalments the contract is flagged at risk, and you can suspend it.

Can a customer pay off the car early?

Yes. Pay out early from the contract and it moves to ownership transfer. The settlement letter shows the total paid, the payoff date and that there's no encumbrance, and your transfer fee is invoiced.

Can I run ordinary hires on the same fleet?

Yes. Contracts and hires share the booking calendar, and a contract only offers cars that are free for the whole term.
